The songwriting’s as taut as it comes, with eight songs spanning a half-hour, but TYRANN pack each to the gills with hooks that are stripped-down yet sublime. That they can somehow take garage ethics to stadium dynamics circa 1981 is some strange alchemy, to be sure, but it only serves to make their already-intimate personality that much more ingratiating.
